Position Overview:
The Environmental Manager will be responsible for overseeing all environmental, health, and safety aspects of a cement/concrete/quarry operations. This includes compliance with Title V regulations, construction safety, and industrial hygiene. The ideal candidate will have experience in the cement industry and will be familiar with the unique challenges and regulations in this field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Title V Air, Storm Water, Waste Water regulations and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards and environmental risks.
- Provide training to employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and hazardous material handling.
- Investigate and report any workplace incidents or accidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all new construction projects are executed safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Monitor and manage industrial hygiene programs, including air quality, noise, and ergonomics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and stakeholders, such as local government and community organizations.
- Stay up-to-date on all industry regulations and proactively communicate any changes or updates to the company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the cement/construction industry.
- Proven experience with Title V regulations, Waste Water, Storm Water and obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
- Knowledge of concrete, quarry, heavy machinery, and plant operations.
- Familiarity with safety management and mining processes is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and hazard identification and mitigation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to different plant locations within Florida, particularly in the Miami Dade area and familiar with this area's environmental regulations.
