Director of Safety and Training

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Safety and Training to oversee and manage our safety programs in the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing safety procedures to minimize workplace accidents and injuries while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for our construction sites
• Provide guidance and support to construction teams regarding safety protocols and regulations
• Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, CalOSHA, and DOT
• Manage safety training programs for employees and contractors, including Flagger, TCS, Traffic Control, TCT, and SMART training
• Monitor safety performance and maintain safety KPIs to track progress
• Collaborate with Human Resources to investigate and report accidents and incidents, and develop plans to prevent future occurrences

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Safety Management or related field
• 5+ years of experience in a Director-level safety role with ATSSA certifications (Flagger, TCT, TCS) preferred.
• Experience in training and development programs for construction safety, including Training, construction safety director, and Trainer
• Strong knowledge of state and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, CalOSHA, and DOT
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak Spanish is a huge plus
• Able to provide examples when you were able to reduce EMR or TRIR rates/scores, how you were able to do it/steps taken and the impact it made.
